I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer and are looking forward to getting back here to school. We will be sending out a full newsletter with information about the new year next Friday, August 19, however we wanted to send one adjustment to our schedule so that you are able to plan.
Due to the Ukrainian Independence Day holiday, we will be moving our open house for new students. It will take place on Tuesday, 23 August, from 1-3 PM. This is different from what was originally advertised.
Please let us know if you have any questions at all. And we hope that you will enjoy the remainder of your summer.
Following is a list of activities we hope to offer for session four of our Elementary Co-curricular activities. The sign up session will open on March 29th at 7pm and will close at midnight on April 15th. Please remember to sign your child up for two different activities. The activities will begin on April 12. Students enrolled in the Drama will not be required to sign up again as this is a session three and session 4 activity. Those signed up for Brownies and Girl Scouts will already be signed up for those activities. If you have any problems logging on to your moodle account please contact the IT department as soon as possible.
Our spring MAP testing (Measures of Academic Progress) will be taking place from Monday, 25 April-Friday, 13 May. Their purpose is to give a measure of your child’s academic development at a moment in time.
For more information on these tests and how you can interpret your child’s score, you can check out the resources available on the website www.nwea.org. In addition, this article and the references within can provide you with a bit of understanding of how to view these MAP scores in context.
It is important to note that understanding your child’s academic standing and progress is a puzzle with many pieces. The MAP tests are certainly a worthy measure, but they are simply one of the pieces that we use.
If you have questions about MAP, please feel free to contact school administrators or your child’s teacher.
