Dear QSI International School of Bratislava Families and Friends,

I am proud to say that we have just completed an exciting 5 weeks at our new Samorin campus.  Student enrollment is up and this is a testament to the total team effort that has been put forth.  Teachers, students, staff, and parents have come together as one huge international family to make QSI better than ever before!

If you have not yet had a chance to see the new facilities, please feel free to anytime.  :)

So enjoy the February break and we'll see you on Monday, 19 February.

Kind regards,

Daniel Blaho, Director
QSI International School of Bratislava

6 Year Old Class
The 6 year olds finished up their unit on the marketplace by taking their knowledge and trying it out in the real-world. They started as sellers, holding a school bake sale. Then they took their well earned money and became buyers in Kaufland! They even got a behind-the-scenes tour looking at just how complex it can be to buy and sell items.  Of course, they all ended up with a little savings!
7 Year Old Class

The 7 YO class is in the study of Motion in Science. They learned that time and distance are important to measure speed. Also motion has a different path.

We studied how force (pushes and pulls) can change an object’s motion by using toy cars to discover that pushes and pulls are needed to get a car moving as well as to change the direction of a car.

In our speed trials we were interested in which of the motions each student found to be the fastest or the slowest - walking backwards, jumping, or crawling.

We were also experimenting with collision.

ART Class

5YO-Elements: The 5YO class is demonstrating their mastery of the Elements of Art by creating beautiful and unique winter hats!

8YO-Piet 1/2: The 8YO class have been using 100-grids to create fraction-based designs. We are currently looking at the geometric work of Piet Mondrian, and students will be creating a final collage artwork with a focus on simplistic colour and division of space!

9YO-Ink 1/2: The 9YO artists have been practicing their Chinese calligraphy and ink painting. Students mix their own ink using traditional methods and will be creating their final poem-based artwork this week, using authentic Chinese brushes to create beautiful scenes!

11YO-Meso 1/2: The 11YOs have been creating low-relief sculptures, as well as practicing their cuneiform writing in clay. A great connection to their current cultural studies of Mesopotamia and Egypt!
