The track and field is coming.  I know, we thought the same thing last year, but the construction man from HQ is arriving the first of May to begin.  Several things need to be done before the track, field and support for the wall can begin.  The play structure (which is old and needs to be replaced anyway), the covered play area and the Basketball hoop area need to be removed.  We will make sure that the students have enough equipment to play with during recess, and we will pour a new BB court and 4 square court on the lower field to help out until the new field is completed.  With the shipment in August there are swings and tetherball poles to place in the corner of the field.  In November, once the field is completed and we see exactly how much space is left, a new play structure will be ordered.  A play structure for the early childhood playground will be installed in August for the little ones.

MOCK AP exams are occuring on Saturdays for a couple of weeks.  This is in preparation of the AP exams which happen from May 6-17.  Teachers and students have worked hard since August  to be ready for the exams.  Middle School and Secondary classes will be moving around during those weeks to make room for the exams.

If your child has an afternoon exam they will be excused from their morning classes.  A student with a morning exam will be expected to be in afternoon classes that day, unless they have a morning exam the following morning as well.  Each student is required to check with Mr. Martin before they miss classes.

EARTH DAY is coming!  Mr. Martin and the Roots and Shoots executive committee has planned a wonderful event for the evening of April 19th.  2 YO through 10 YO students will be performing. We have several student bands playing. Our own faculty group will sing as well.  Please come and plan to have dinner here.  There will be BBQ and other things to eat and drink.

Each class who has participated in a Roots and Shoots campaign to help others, will also have a table to explain what they have accomplished this year.  The students have really made a difference this year and have a lot to be proud of.

The cost is 10 gel to get in (that includes teachers, students, parents and visitors).  All profits from food, drink and entrance fee will go to support worthy causes chosen by our QSIT students.  We look forward to a fun evening!

Roots & Shoots
Our very first Earth Day celebration is coming up!

April 19th, from 6pm to 9pm, our upper field turns into a FUNdraising Fairground. Students, local community members, entertainers and NGOs will promote their charity campaigns and organizations.

The entire QSI community will participate in this no-waste event. The price is 10 lari for entering and make sure to bring more for the food vendors that will set up to sell food and beverages, all in the bazaar-like atmosphere of Earth Day. Roots and shoots and StuCo Students are volunteering to present their charity campaigns, ensure fundraising and provide entertainment.

We hope you join us to see the impact our small circle can make on the planet.

Kindest Regards,
Esther, Student Leader, Roots & Shoots Tbilisi
