First, let me say how much I appreciated all the kind messages I got while I was home in January. Thank you!
The students were thrilled with all the attention they received while presenting their Science Projects. It was wonderful to see the students discussing their projects and using all the correct science terminology! I hope you were able to come and see them.
We have many Staff teams that continue to work throughout the year to improve the school. One of them is the Child Protection Team. They have met during the year to improve understanding of what responsibilities and requirements there are for teachers at International schools as well as in the country of Georgia. The team reviewed the handbook and expectations with the entire staff during a staff meeting.
Mr. Martin’s parent meeting on our new Child Protection Curriculum was held in January. Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Martin.
Our Health and Safety Committee has been working to tighten up our safety drills and a few changes were made in procedures because of our growing population. The RSO from the American Embassy has been consulting with the Administration and the QSIT security guards to create an updated handbook for the guards. The US Embassy is also providing training for our guards in a variety of different areas.
The new ID cards are being printed for all students and QSIT staff. After these cards are completed parents will be able to come in and get their cards (with pictures!). As soon as most of our community have their cards it will be required to wear your card while you are on campus. All students, staff, and parents will be required to wear their card. We know this will take some time to get use to, but it is for the safety of all of our students.
International Week (March 11-15) is coming up, so please start thinking of how you would like to share your country with QSIT students and parents when we have our country booths during the day. The PSG will be coordinating our International Night potluck celebration, so you will be hearing much more about this later.

Roots & Shoots
Successful Sale of Felt dogs and Calendars
In support of the school-wide roots and shoots charity campaigns, Ms. Chuan's class raised money for Dog Organization Georgia (D.O.G.) by selling their beautifully designed 2019 calendars as well as handmade felt dogs. They sold out and raised a total of 600 GEL that will help stray dogs find a home, get vaccinations, and receive nutritious food before getting adopted.
Proudly presenting their worthy course Students created posters about D.O.G., and presented them in various classrooms inviting support for this worthy cause. Their enthusiasm and the ability to speak in front of audiences impressed many !
New notice board Please take a look at the Roots and shoots notice board in the hallway opposite the staff room. We update it with class campaign info like this and a barometer of funds for charity.
