All of the staff participated in Professional Development on October 6th. The day was busy with workshops and work! Our day began talking about Teacher Goals driven by Student Performance. All teachers are creating their goal for the year to improve student performance and learning. QSI revises curriculum on a cycle and science will be our new curriculum next year. Our guest speaker, Katherine Noll, from the American School of Dubai, Chair of their Science Department came to introduce our staff to the NGSS science standards. These “Next Generation Science Standards” are driving the science curriculum being developed and practiced currently. The workshops presented were “The NGSS Framework and what it means for teaching and learning” and “Science Practices and how they are changing our teaching practices”. Teachers also broke into their Accreditation Teams to begin working on the 5-year plans that each committee will develop and present at the end of the year. We had a very busy and productive day! Fall Festival is coming up and tickets will go on sale on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the front office. Beth Potter will be selling the tickets for 5 gel per child. QSI family and friends are invited to join us on October 27th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Children over 2 years old will need a ticket to play games, visit the Haunted House and go down Trick or Treat Lane. Adults and children under 2 will not pay to attend the event. There will also be treats in the Cafeteria for sale! A huge thank you to the PSG and those parents who came on Thursday to set up coffee and treats for World Teacher Day. It was wonderful to arrive at school to “thank you’s” and a special treat supplied by parents!
