Dance for Kindness 2024
By Alyssa Mudd
Counselor at QSI Tirana (TIS)
We are thrilled to share that this year, 13 QSI schools took part in the global Dance for Kindness event, founded by Life Vest Inside. This wonderful initiative brought together students, teachers, and communities to spread kindness through dance, embodying one of our key success orientations: Kindness and Politeness.
Through participating in this event, our students not only celebrated kindness but also demonstrated it in a fun and impactful way, acting out the very values that we strive to cultivate at QSI. It was an inspiring reminder of the power of small acts of kindness and the importance of treating others with respect and care.
We are proud of all our students and staff for coming together in this meaningful way to promote a culture of kindness, and we look forward to continuing to build upon these efforts in the future!

Learning Support at QSI
The Importance of Executive Function
18 months – 3 Years Old
During this stage of development, children are rapidly expanding their language skills. Language plays an important role in the development of executive function and self-regulation, as it helps children identify their thoughts and actions, reflect on them, and make plans that they hold in mind and use. Language also helps children understand and follow increasingly complex rules—both those that regulate behavior and those that apply to simple games.
3-5 Years Old
Children’s executive function and self-regulation skills grow at a fast pace during this period, so it is important to adapt activities to match the skills of each child. Younger children need a lot of support in learning rules and structures, while older children can be more independent. Ultimately, the goal is to shift children away from relying on adult regulation, so when the child seems ready, try to reduce the support you provide.

What are your current roles and responsibilities?
I am currently the Northern Europe and Africa Regional Supervisor. I also work with CEESA and serve on the Executive Committee as well as with the Regional Learning Support Coordinators.
Before HQ, what other positions did you hold with QSI?
I was the Director at Kyiv International School for 6 years, and the Director at QSI Dongguan before that. Before that, I was living the dream as a middle school teacher. I loved being in the classroom and my role as a teacher. Throughout all my years as an administrator, I always tried to make sure I could teach one class just to remember what it is all about and connect with students on a different level.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love working with people and really enjoy thinking through the experience we all have in our schools...
