Let's Celebrate!
Temple Fair Celebration at QSI Shenyang
QSI Shenyang recently hosted our first Temple Fair to celebrate the Lunar New Year! Students, staff, and parents were treated to an impressive face-changing opera performance and an exuberant Lion Dance to start off the festivities. Back inside our school building, families had the opportunity to experience a variety of traditional Chinese activities, such as paper cutting, calligraphy, dumpling making, and writing wishes to start off the new year positively, with a goal in mind. It was wonderful to have the parent, staff and students gather as a community to share this special time together!
30th Anniversary Celebration at TIS
In 1991, Albania was a very different place than it is today. Alongside the US Embassy, Tirana International School was established as the first school to serve foreigners. The country was opening up, on the brink of new beginnings.
Since those early years, Tirana International School has grown, improved, and developed. We started thirty years ago in a handful of German villas and had zero students for the first four months.
Today, we sit overlooking the city from a purpose-built campus. We have record numbers of students from over thirty-five different countries. We are both academically rigorous and whole-child focused with a successful IB Diploma Program, AP Capstone Program, and character development at the forefront.
We look forward to the next 30 years! Thank you to everyone who has ever been part of the TIS family and making it what it is today. We are old and wise but still young at heart.

Accreditation and Child Protection Updates
Accreditation
Middle States Association (MSA) visiting teams have worked to complete visits to all QSI schools and then compile their observations into a final report that we will share with the QSI community. We are aiming for accreditation in May 2022, at which point all schools will receive updated Component School Accreditation certificates.
The exciting process of working to achieve Systems accreditation has already led to systemic improvements as we embrace systems thinking to tackle organizational challenges.
Who's Who at HQ - Aaron Harnden
Interview with Aaron Harnden, QSI Director of Information and Communication.
What are your current roles and responsibilities?
I currently split my time in two areas: Regional Supervisor of African schools and the Director of Information and Communication. I work with the directors in our schools in Africa, and I also do a wide variety of work in the communication portion of my job, which has led me into working on various committees, writing official statements, acting as a liaison with the counselors and headquarters, and meeting with individuals throughout QSI.
QSI University Fair 2022
QSI school counselors collaborated with connectED to develop our first ever spring QSI Global University Fair. All secondary students, staff and parents from our 35 schools were invited to participate. Over 900 members of our QSI community registered for the fair, where live university sessions and virtual information booths were available 7-9 February.
Behind Virtual Calls - Photo Contest
QSI Teachers, Students and Parents, send us photos wearing your best 'behind virtual calls' outfit. Don't be shy, we have all been there! The best shots will be published in the next Quintile Newsletter. Make your submissions by the end of May. Send to quintile@qsi.org.
