QSI International School of Chengdu is open to students of all nationalities holding foreign passports. No student will be denied entry on grounds of race, color, religion or ethnic background. Each student aged 6 and older will be given a test in English and Mathematics. We use data from these tests to ensure proper placement. Admissions is not dependent on test scores.
The minimum age for admission to the Preschool is 3 years of age prior to the first day of school. (We ask that all students in the Preschool program be potty trained.) All other grade levels use November 1st as the cut off date for the grade level in which the child is to be enrolled, e. g. 5 years of age prior to November 1st for the 5-year-olds program, 12 years of age prior to November 1st for the 12-year-olds program, etc.
Student Placement Policy
Before students enter classes they are given a series of assessments, which may include the Measures of Academic Achievement (MAP) assessment in Reading, Language, and Mathematics, the IDEA English Proficiency Test, a writing assessment, and an interview. Results of these assessments will be recorded on the Placement and Movement Form and communicated to the staff before the arrival of the student.
- Classes are grouped according to assessment scores and age levels (7–9, 9–11, 11–13, 12/13–Sec)
