Our "Share the Love" food drive has officially begun! All elementary students are asked to bring (at least) 2kg flour, 1kg rice, 1 liter oil, and 1kg sugar. All upper school students are asked to bring (at least) 3kg canned food (vegetables/meat) and 1 package of cookies/biscuits each. Our goal, as a school, is to collect 1000 kg in food. All donations will support underprivileged children in the Sarajevo area. The class who brings in the most food will receive a "make our own pizza" party and also get to throw a pie in the face of the person on the administrative team they choose. (Unfortunately, I've already been threatened a few times.)

Our 9-13-year-old have had a fantastic time on the mountain this week. They are a bit sore and tired, but leave school excited each morning as they look forward to another day on the slopes. Next week the 5 - 8-year-olds will have their opportunity on the slopes. A huge thank you to Mrs. Selma Sakic for planning and leading QSI's annual ski weeks.

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the winter break and your year is off to a great start. As we begin the new year, I don’t see any signs of it slowing down. With that being said, there is much to accomplish. Students have began a new quintile, our QSIS Soccer Team is preparing for a tournament, we are collecting food for our 10th Annual Food Drive, and our Model United Nations delegates are diligently completing research in preparation for the MUN conference in Rome.

In addition, we are making final preparations for Ski Week and Secondary Ski Weekend, students and teachers are getting ready for the CEESA Volleyball Tournament, (We still need volunteers to host students!), our Bosnian staff has planned an incredible agenda for Bosnian Days, and teachers and staff are busy planning and preparing additional school activities, events, and special happenings that will enhance the educational experience of our students.

Students had so much fun today as we hopped on board the Polar Express, in our pajamas, for a morning filled with games and activities!  Students and teachers were entertained as everybody made holiday cards and ate doughnuts off a string. We loved playing the Gift Stack Game, Knock the Snowmen, and Snowball Race. The elementary school unanimously voted that their favorite part was the tree decorating competition. Students demonstrated group interaction and problem solving skills. At the end of the morning, we watched the Polar Express movie and enjoyed fresh popcorn.

We have collected more than 100 pairs of underwear for the Daily Center. Thank you for your continuous help and support. We hope that this morning was just the beginning of a wonderful holiday season for everyone!

We are looking forward to seeing you all in January for another successful year at QSI Sarajevo!

With warmest holiday wishes and safe travels,

    QSIS Faculty and Staff
