Director's Desk

This week we are introducing our parent ID system for those individuals that would like easier access to the campus.  As you are all aware, we take security at TIS very seriously and want to help facilitate an atmosphere where students feel safe and comfortable.  Part of this process is helping students know at a glance that an adult is a TIS parent by their on-campus badge.  If anyone would like to get a permanent badge, then they may send their name as it will appear on the badge and a recent digital photograph to robert-jackson@qsi.org.  Please send your name as you want to be addressed by students and teachers, so shortened forms are fine if that is what you prefer.  We would ask that parents only apply for a badge if they are expecting to be on campus on a frequently for school business.

On another note, we look forward to seeing everyone on Friday at the back to school picnic!  We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks.  If families would like to provide a salad or dessert, then they are welcome to do so.  See you on the field for a big cookout!

Tiger News

This year the weekly announcements are produced for students by students with the help of Mr. Panetta.  If you are interested in reading about their activities, have a look here.  Students are still able to join the after school activity and help make the announcements.

Albanian Language

Welcome back to all of the students that are taking Albanian language class this year. They were so excited to come back and to begin together this new journey of learning our beautiful and unique language.

Intensive English

Five and six year old students are feeling comfortable and interacting confidently in the first days of IE class.  We wish them the best as they begin their process of learning English this year at TIS.

Chromebooks

The 12 year old class is enjoying enhanced learning through new Chromebooks and Google Classroom. So far this year, students have used the new technology to access digital resources such as Khan Academy and online textbooks. In addition, students have accessed, completed and submitted assignments, worked collaboratively with peers, received teacher feedback and maintained their academic planners all through Google Classroom.

British Literature

The oldest surviving English poem is the epic story of Beowulf, a legendary hero. Despite its age (the manuscript is over 1,000 years old), the events and the characters of the story still excite the modern readers. British Literature students at TIS have enjoyed immersing themselves in the epic battles of the mighty warrior.

“The epic Beowulf is one of the best stories I have ever read” - Kaan.

“The poem describes each scene better than the next, making us feel like there is a real hero amongst us” - Sigve.

“The memory of Beowulf’s grandeur and glory lives on” - Alessia.
