Kyiv
International School, a private non-profit institution that opened in September of 1992, offers high quality education in the English language for pre-school, elementary, and secondary students.
The school purchased and renovated a building which is located in a park like setting just 15 minutes from the center of the
city. The new facility has
large outside play areas, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, cafeteria,
snack cafe, a fine arts complex, an early childhood center, doctor's
office, science labs and classrooms to accommodate a quality curriculum
for children from 3 years of age through secondary school.
The school's educational
philosophy, which includes a personalized approach to instruction,
leads to teaching for mastery. We believe in success for all
students. We seek to create a positive learning environment since we
believe a child learns more if he enjoys his learning experience.
THE
PRIMARY PURPOSE of the school is to meet the needs of the children in Kyiv who require this type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. This program is also offered to Ukrainian citizens who seek this education with a view to higher studies outside of Ukraine. In addition to its scholastic goals, the school endeavors to provide its students with knowledge of Ukraine.
THE
CURRICULUM includes English (reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling), mathematics, cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.), science, computer literacy, art, music, physical education. Ukrainian/Russian studies, German, French and Spanish are part of the School's curriculum. Students participate in afternoon activities several days a week. Field trips are planned as part of the curriculum. Textbooks are loaned to students without charge.
The early childhood program includes readiness skills, pre-reading skills, pre-mathematics skills, and pre-writing skills. The five-year program continues with reading, writing, mathematics, and science at appropriate levels.
The secondary program leads to a secondary diploma with graduates integrating successfully into higher education institutions in the USA and other countries. Advanced Placement courses and International Baccalaureate are offered.
Kyiv International School has accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Pennsylvania, USA. |
