QSI International School of
Bratislava, a private non-profit institution that opened in
September of 1994, offers high quality education in the English language for pre-school, elementary, and
secondary students. The facilities are located in Dubravka, a suburb of
Bratislava, about 10 km from the center of town. The facility occupies a
wing of an athletic and cultural complex owned by the Slovak
government. The school has 30 classrooms, including a library, 2 computer
laboratories, two science laboratories, an office and storage space, and
playground area. Other facilities also include access to an indoor
swimming pool, a fitness facility, dance and exercise rooms, a gymnasium,
two theatres, a snack bar, and a cafeteria. School bus service is available
as well as an excellent local transportation system.
The school's educational philosophy, which
includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for
mastery. We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a
positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he
enjoys his learning experience.
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of the
school is to meet the needs of the children in Bratislava who require this
type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home
countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. This program is also
offered to Slovak citizens who seek this education with a view to
higher studies outside of Slovakia. In addition to its scholastic goals,
the school endeavors to provide its students with a knowledge of
Slovakia.
THE CURRICULUM includes English
(reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling), mathematics,
cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.), science, computer
literacy, art, music, and physical education as part of the regular
program. German, Slovak, and French are taught as foreign and native languages. Extra
curricular activities and field trips are offered for students of all
ages. Textbooks are loaned to students without charge.
The secondary program offers
students all standard subjects and electives.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are also offered
for secondary school students.
QSI International School of
Bratislava has accreditation through the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools, Pennsylvania, USA. The school is recognized by the Slovak Ministry of Education. We are members of the Central
and Eastern European Schools Association and The
European Council of International Schools. |
