School & Community
QSI Ashgabat International School, is a private non-profit institution that opened in September of 1994 and offers a high quality education in the English language for elementary and secondary students. The warm and welcoming school community make it an ideal place to receive a quality education from QSI.
Ashgabat International School currently serves students age 3 through age 18 and has an enrollment of 234. The students of Ashgabat International School represent 21 countries from around the world, providing the school with a wonderfully diverse learning environment. We welcome pre-school, elementary, and secondary students to our school and are prepared to provide a well-qualified teaching staff, a rigorous pre-school thru secondary curriculum, and necessary materials where needed.
The school is located on a five-hectare campus directly South of the United States housing compound in the beautiful Berzengi district of Ashgabat. The school is neighbor to the National Museum and overlooks the city of Ashgabat. Students at Ashgabat International School enjoy studying in an air-conditioned/heated school building that includes 30+ classrooms, a, elementary and secondary library, two computer laboratories, a teacher work room, and office space. Its prefabricated construction is earthquake safe, equipped with a fire/evacuation alarm system, and includes a sophisticated water purification system. The five hectare fenced campus includes a grassed playing field, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. On occasion, the school uses the neighboring indoor and outdoor swimming pools, local fitness center, and tennis courts for physical education classes.
In addition to the regular Quality Schools International curriculum, Ashgabat International School offers students the opportunity to study Russian, Turkmen, French, and Spanish. There are also opportunities for students to participate in other school activities, extra-curricular activities, and community activities including soccer and basketball, chess, gymnastics, cooking, fine arts, crafts, and drama.
Ashgabat International School employs qualified and professional teachers who love teaching. Currently there are 31 full time teachers plus 5 part time teachers. Assisting them, there are 17 paraprofessionals along with all of the other faculty members that are needed to provide a learning environment in line with QSI's goal of providing a quality education to all students.
In 1999, Ashgabat International School was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has maintained that accreditation in good standing. On its most recent visit in 2013, the MSA Accreditation Team renewed the accreditation of Ashgabat International School.
