School & Community
Tirana International School is a private, non-profit institution that opened in September of 1991 and offers a high-quality education in the English language for pre-school, elementary, and secondary students. Classes are small, allowing for ample individual attention for all students. The warm and welcoming school community makes it an ideal place to receive a quality education from QSI.
Tirana International School currently serves students age 3 through age 18 and has an enrollment of 167. The projected enrollment for the following year is expected to be 180. The students of Tirana International School represent 27 countries from around the world, providing the school with a wonderfully diverse learning environment. We welcome pre-school, elementary, and secondary students to our school and are prepared to provide a well-qualified teaching staff, a rigorous pre-school thru secondary curriculum, and necessary materials where needed.
The school is situated in converted residences inside a residential compound. The facilities are adequate for the current enrollment, and there is sufficient playground space for the students. Teachers live in nearby housing. A new school facility is under construction at a 5.5-hectare site on the edge of the city in an upscale, growing residential area. The new facility will offer more space and expanded amenities than the current facility allows. Completion date is estimated to be August 2014.
In addition to the regular Quality Schools International curriculum, Tirana International School offers students the opportunity to study Spanish, German and French. There are also opportunities for students to participate in other school activities, extra-curricular activities, and community activities including arts & crafts, clubs, knowledge bowls, high and middle school robotics, swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball student council and model United Nations.
Tirana International School employs qualified and professional teachers who love teaching. Currently there are 23 full time teachers plus 3 part time teachers. Assisting them, there are 7 paraprofessionals along with all of the other faculty members that are needed to provide a learning environment in line with QSI's goal of providing a quality education to all students.
In 1999, Tirana International School was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has maintained that accreditation in good standing. On its most recent visit in 2012, the MSA Accreditation Team renewed the accreditation of Tirana International School.
