International School of Puerto La Cruz - Quality Schools International (QSI), a non-profit organization, acquired Escuela De Las Americas Puerto La Cruz (ELA) in the spring of 2004. The school is now called QSI International School of Puerto La Cruz. The school is American accredited providing high quality educational services to children in preschool through secondary school. QSI International School of Puerto La Cruz has transitioned to a performance based, personalized approach to instruction that leads to teaching for mastery. The Puerto La Cruz community can now look forward to the updating of curriculum and resources along with specialists to provide academic and operational support from QSI.
The Puerto La Cruz school is located in a quiet residential area of Lecheria, a convenient location for international families. The preschool through secondary program is supported by a well-maintained school facility. The school has a modern automated library, computer lab, science laboratory, lunch facility, physical education area, and academic classrooms.
THE
PRIMARY PURPOSE of the school is to meet the needs of children in the Puerto La Cruz area who require the type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. This program is also offered to Venezuelan citizens who seek this education with a view to attending university. In addition to its scholastic goals, the school endeavors to provide its students with knowledge of Venezuela and a rich variety of extra-curricular activities.
THE
CURRICULUM includes English (reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling), mathematics, cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.), science, computer literacy, art, music, physical education, Spanish, and Spanish Studies. Secondary students have access to electives. Field trips are planned as part of the curriculum. Textbooks are loaned to students without charge.
The early childhood program includes readiness skills, pre-reading skills, pre-mathematics skills, and pre-writing skills. The five-year program continues with reading, writing, mathematics, and science at appropriate levels.
The secondary program leads to a secondary diploma with graduates integrating successfully into higher education institutions in the USA and other countries.
