QSI International School of Kosice, a non-profit institution that opened in September 2001, offers high quality education
in the English language forpre-school
(beginning at age five years), elementary, and middle school students.
The school occupies
five rooms in the Novomeskeho School building, located near the center
of Kosice. It has an ample library, office space, and a full computer lab.
The site also includes a playground
area and 2 indoor gymnasiums. Teachers live in nearby housing.
The school's educational philosophy, which
includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for
mastery. We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a
positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he
enjoys his learning experience.
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of
the school is to meet the needs of the children in Kosice
who require this type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home countries with a
minimum of adjustment problems. This
program is also offered to Slovak citizens who seek this education with a view to higher studies outside of
Slovakia. In addition to its scholastic goals,
the school endeavors to provide its students with a knowledge of Slovakia.
THE CURRICULUM includes
English (reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling),
mathematics, cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.),
science, computer literacy, art, music, and physical education as part of
the regular program. Intensive English classes are provided for those with
a limited knowledge of the English language. Extra activities are offered
several days a week. Textbooks are loaned to students without charge.
The same curriculum used in all QSI schools
is used at QSI International School Of Kosice. Currently, 16 QSI schools
have accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and
Schools, Pennsylvania, USA. Two QSI schools are accredited through Southern States Association of Schools and Colleges. |
