    Parent Activities at AIS

If you are already enrolled in an activity, you do not need to do anything. You will remain enrolled automatically. However, two new Activities for Parents will begin on Tuesday, 27 November

In order to make it possible for parents to attend these activities, we will provide FREE childcare (3-10YO) for AIS students whose parents are enrolled in an activity. There will be no cost for the activities or for the childcare, but you must officially enroll in order to attend the activity or to use the childcare. This will help us prepare and make sure everything runs smoothly.  Drop-ins will not be allowed.

All activities take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 3:30—4:20.

To enroll in one of the two new activities, please email lindsay-elswick@kaz.qsi.org

The new offerings are as follows:

    Scholastic Books

    Dear Parents,

Many of you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Scholastic books that were ordered for your children. Because of the overwhelming response from our families, all the parcels could not be shipped together because this could potentially cause a problem getting them easily through Kazakh customs. So the boxes are being sent one by one. Hopefully, all will be received next week and can be distributed to the students.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Kind regards,
    Shelley McGuire

    Athletic Corner

    Greetings AIS Community,

The Central Asia Soccer Classic (CASC) is over!  It was a fantastic success because of everyone who participated.  Thank you one and all.

CASC highlights include the AIS choir performing on opening night (Wednesday, 31 August).  Their melodic harmonies mesmerized the crowds.  Not to be outdone, the AIS staff performed to “Thriller”.  Their makeup was enough to scare the opposing players from afar.

Results for AIS soccer teams included the JV boys placing 5th, JV girls earning 2nd, Varsity girls blue team took 4th and the white team 7th, Varsity boys white team tied for 5th, and the Varsity boys blue team is your 2018 CASC champions!

“All-Tournament Team” honors went to Arusha Binder (JV boys), Aliya Khaltayeva and Urmila Khalder (JV girls), Soohwan Kim (V boys white), Laura Reis (V girls white), Juliette Fiet (V girls blue), and Yeonjun Jeong and Ali Amantay (V boys blue).  The Varsity boys MVP of the tournament was Tudor Ion (V boys blue).

Thank you again, everyone, who supported, cheered, worked, sweated, and showed up to strengthen our community.  You are more amazing than words.

Winter sports have begun.  Basketball held tryouts this week.  There was a lot of excitement and positive energy in the Big Gym as Varsity and JV players demonstrated their skills.  Please register your player via COASH (student registration)for the local league.  Also, use the AIS Sports Calendar to keep track of practices and games.

Badminton holds tryouts next week.  JV players are on Monday, 12 November and Varsity players hold tryouts on Friday, 16 November. JV and Varsity teams are for players interested in competing against other schools.

Club Badminton is a new idea.  Players who want a more relaxed atmosphere will be in the Big Gym on Tuesdays (12 and 13 year-olds) and Thursdays (S1-S4 students).

Finally, swimming is getting underway.  There will be a few practices (24 November and 1 December) prior to the COASH meets.  JV and Varsity swimmers will compete on Tuesday, 4 December from 16:00-18:00 and Tulpar (U9) and Kyran (U12) swimmers will compete on Thursday, 6 December from 16:00-18:00.  The COASH competitions are at Haileybury.

Please do not hesitate to communicate.  I look forward to seeing you on the sidelines.

    Sincerely,
    Patrick Binder
