Overview of the Intensive English Program at QSI
At QSI, children from many language backgrounds come together for a successful learning experience. Students are expected to flourish in the classroom no matter what their English level is when they first come to QSI.
The Intensive English (IE) program at QSI is there to support students whose English level is not yet high enough for the standard reading and language arts classes. The goal of the Intensive English program is to allow students to quickly catch up with their other classmates in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Intensive English classes at QSI Brindisi
At QSI, students receive Reading & Writing Literacy daily.
Students 5 years old and younger will stay with their class during this time and be immersed in the English language. From age 6 through secondary, students with a need for English language instruction will attend Intensive English classes during the Reading & Writing Literacy periods. These Intensive English classes consist of smaller groups of English language learners. During this time, students receive English language instruction suitable for their language level. For most of the rest of the day, those students rejoin their homeroom class for other subjects such as Mathematics, PE, Art, Technology, Music, and others. Teachers in these classes accommodate and differentiate for language learners to allow them to be successful in these subjects, even as students are learning English. In addition, most Intensive English students will have an additional period of English language support later in the day in place of Languages Other than English classes.
