A chance to stop for a moment and recognize all of the
outstanding accomplishments around us!
Message from Director
We hope you got a chance to meet with all the teachers at Back to School Night. Should you want to communicate further, please do not hesitate to contact them and to set up a conference. Parent Teacher conferences will be scheduled for October 25th. You will have the opportunity to meet with one or all of your child’s teachers that day.
Our accreditation teams are all meeting again this year. Many of the groups will be sending out surveys to students, staff and parents to get feedback on specific topics. The teams look at the following areas: Facilities, School Climate, Health & Safety, Educational Programs, Assessment & Evidence of Student Learning, Student Services, Student Life and Informational Resources & Technology. The three objectives set by the school during the last accreditation process were in Reading, Mastery Learning and Environment. All of these groups set five year growth plans last year and will continue to work toward school improvement in these areas.
Our Roots and Shoots group, Student Council and National Honor Society will play an ever larger role in the development of these plans, especially the teams that will focus on student leadership and participation.
The Health and Safety Committee reviews the QSIT Emergency Handbook each year to improve communication between staff members and to ensure everyone is aware of what to do in case of an emergency. Our first full school assembly of the year focused on the procedure for each emergency (fire, earthquake, lockdown and movement to safe haven). Our elementary students demonstrated to the rest of the school what to do in each instance. QSIT is also in constant contact with the US Embassy RSOs as well as regular radio checks with security at the embassy. We have already had a fire drill and will continue throughout the year to practice with the entire school.
We hope to see everyone Saturday at the PSG Welcome Picnic.
