Minsk International School, a private non-profit institution that opened in
September of 1993, offers high quality education in the English language
for students from five years through fifteen years of age. The School is
located in a wing of a Belarusian public school building near the city
center of Minsk. The facility includes 6 classrooms,
a library, and a computer laboratory. A swimming pool, located nearby, as
well as a track and playing field, are used for physical education
classes.
The school's educational philosophy, which
includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for
mastery. We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a
positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he
enjoys his learning experience.
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of the
school is to meet the needs of the children in Minsk who require this type
of education with a view to continuing their education in their home
countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. This program is also
offered to Belarus citizens who seek this education with a view to higher
studies outside of Belarus. In addition to its scholastic goals, the
school endeavors to provide its students with knowledge of Belarus.
THE CURRICULUM includes English
(reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, and spelling), mathematics,
cultural studies (history, geography, economics, etc.), science, computer
literacy, art, music, and physical education as part of the regular
program. Intensive English Classes are available based upon student
placement testing. Russian is taught as a foreign
language. After school activities are offered (Computer Club, Basketball
Volleyball). Textbooks are
loaned to students without charge. |
