QSI International School of Astana, a non-profit institution that opened in 2005. We offer a high quality education in the English language for children three (3) years through thirteen (13) years of age. Beginning this year the school will offer the first year of secondary (age 14). A US accredited virtual secondary distance learning program (University of Miami Online High School) monitored by the school will be available for students in the second, third and fourth years of secondary leading to a secondary diploma. An enrollment of approximately 35 students is projected for the 2007-2008 school year including students from the diplomatic community, international business community, and the Astana community.

The school's educational philosophy, which includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for mastery.  We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he enjoys his learning experience.

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of the school is to provide a quality education to meet the needs of the children of the international community working in Astana who require this type of education. The desired result is that the students will continue their education in their home countries or other posts with a minimum of adjustment problems upon leaving Kazakhstan and QSI Astana. This program is also offered to Kazakhstan students who seek a solid education delivered in English. The school recognizes that many of the students are enrolled for only two or three years and have diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.

THE CURRICULUM includes English (reading, grammar, composition, keyboarding, handwriting, speaking, and spelling), Mathematics, Cultural Studies (history and geography), Science (physical, life, and earth), Art, Music, Computers, and Physical Education. Intensive English classes are offered to students who need additional help with the English language. The school also seeks to provide students with an appreciation for the culture and history of Kazakhstan. Materials and equipment are up to date and of high quality. Textbooks are loaned to the students without charge. Class sizes are small. Native English-speaking, credentialed, experienced teachers deliver the curriculum.
