• Winter Concert

    07-Dec-18 | QSI Yerevan

    Dear QSI Yerevan Families,

Tonight is the night of our annual Winter Concert staff and students have been preparing for the final production tonight.  Parents, please make sure to have your students here at 6:15 pm.  Also after the elementary performance, secondary drama club will be performing The Elf Rebellion"  and "The Bestest Christmas in Texas".   I look forward to seeing everyone tonight.

Yesterday, we conducted an Earthquake practice drill.  This is one of the different safety drills we practice each month.  I wanted to inform everyone about the Richter safety of our building.  This building was built to a Richter 9.0 standard.   To put it in comparison, the earthquake that happened in 1988 in Spitak was a 6.8 Richter.  Staff and students took this drill very seriously.

The PSG met on Tuesday.  They want to collect emails and names of parents who would like to receive emails from them to help support and to hear about community events happening.  Here is a link to the Google form where you can authorize them to use your contact information.   https://goo.gl/forms/8Fx4w6CQRPnZ5aTp2 .  Also, they are getting ready for Bingo night in February.  They ask as you travel to get items that would make a great basket that would be raffled off.

On Monday, QSIY will begin collecting "Coins for Kindness."  Bring as many coins as you can to help support the local charity--Bari Mama.  Our goal is to collect enough coins to buy over 100 gifts for needy children.  There will be a collection point in each elementary classroom and a few places in the upstairs hallway.  The elementary hopes to bring in at least 5 kilograms of coins and we hope the middle school and high school could help us double this amount.  Just for your information, a 500 dram weighs about 5 grams, so ten 500 dram coins will buy 1 toy for a needy child.  Tonight at our Winter Concert, there will be jars available for families to donate coins for kindness.

NHS is also collecting new or gently used clothes for donation to local villages.   There is a big wooden box at the main entrance where you can place these items.   Thank you for supporting the NHS.  Tonight, when you come, would be a great time to drop off some items.

Next week is Winter Break.  If your child is going to miss school before or after the break, please inform the teacher so they can be informed about your child's absence.

Reminder about Scholastic book orders.  Next Friday is the deadline for online and paper orders.  Attached is the form to order online.

Also attached is the third session ECA form.
